220 diesel

Post by Ptomo »

I put 20 quid in other day an got just under half a tank now I've only done 70 miles and it's not that far off the red already at a guess there's about 50 miles left ish, does this sound right?
I haven't been booting just a couple of high revving changes to flush out the cat (deffo needed that) no mods as yet though I am comparing it to the 600 diesel i had 18 month ago with lower fuel prices too but I feel I should be seein a fair bit more tbh, good service comin this sat/sun bein pay day.

The only accurate way to measure mpg is to:
1. Fill the tank to the brim
2. Zero the trip meter
3. Drive as usual till the tank is low
4. Refill - Record fuel used to fill the tank back to the brim and the number of miles covered
5. Do this simple calculation

Miles travelled divided by litres used, then multiply this by 4.55 to get the mpg figure

E.g. 450 miles, 45 litres to refill = 45.5mpg

Usual excessive fuel issues are leaking fuel leak-off pipes from the injectors. They degrade with age. A few quid will get you some suitable hose from a motorfactor and then simply cut to fit with a sharp blade and then push on to replace.
