VP37 pump set up

Post by jonfall »

Hi, can anyone tell me the correct set up for a VP 37 pump using a dti to record the piston movement. Is it simply a case of setting to the maximum travel?
thanx jonfall

I believe it is 0.55mm of lift at the timing point

There should be a scribed line on the aluminium front cover that should be aligned with the centre of the unused wudruff key slot 7 the lock screw should then be used to clamp the shaft whilst you re-fit the pulley ont the shaft taper. This should get you going near enough to run reasonably well.

To time the pump accurately you should remove the pump & use A DTI down the probe spot at the rear of the pump & measure a lift of 0.55mm at the timing point but you will need the correct probe adaptors to do this.

I've not verified the figure myself but that is what I've read somewhere and no-one contradicted it.
