UNKNOWN PROBLEM.. :(

Post by Barney »

Hi everyone :) I have a Rover 45 IDT 2000 74kw and very strange problem. The problem is that the engine is vibrating on idle running and the whole car is shaking and sounds like tractor but the revs didn't change and this happens whatever the engine wants there is no reason. And when this happens when i turns off the car and then turns on its all normal and the endgine works perfectly. Is this the timing solanoid or something else i allready change the ECU,but didn't work :( If there's mistakes in the text sorry about that i am not perfect at writing english :)

When the engine makes noise does it sound very rough? If so check the wire that runs to number 1 injector as it frequently chafes on the engine. If this is the case repair the chafing and monitor.

It may also be a good idea to get the fault codes read. If you get an error logged for negative timing deviation then this may well be a solenoid that is on its last legs and needs replacing. It can be done a lot cheaper than a pump recon! There is a how to guide on the main site bit written my Mad I think.

Any diesel specialist will be able to get it as it is a standard bosch part.

Probably ok but I'd ask the place you bought it from just in case. If they say it is ok and it isn't they'll have to replace it even if it is used.

If not they might be funny about returning it if it doesn't work.

I bought it from an auto morgue :D And and the guy there tells me if it didn't work i can return the solenoid to him there is no problem about that. The problem is is there anything to happen to the car or to the pump i don't know? And when i change the solenoid is there a chance to get my pump malfunctioning or something else ? :)

If its physically the same size if it doesn't work it'll just give you tractor type noise which is probably what you already have!

Yeah i think the same, but the tractor noise is not annoying me the stupid engine vibrating and the car shaking is that what's annoying if it was only the tractor noise i'll never have to change the stupid solenoid, but no every time when i stop my car on the city traffic it begins to shake and i'm dancing :D :D
