Got bearings?

Post by Dakta »

I'm chasing some bearings for my U spec pg1 derv box 'o' cogs.

Got a noisy diff and I'm not taking risks...anyone know what I need, where to get them, and perhaps any idea how much I can expect to pay?

Had a look through the gearbox rebuild guide on rovertech and it looks nicely overcomplicated. Bundle of fun!

6208 bearings x 2
Metal cage if possible (standard ones are plastic caged) Cost is about a tenner a bearing give or take

Or M208 bearings which are the more expensive but heavier duty versions. Cost is a lot more than the 6208's. Think mine were about £25 each (there are two needed).

I'm actualy quite content to pay the bigger price if it gives a bit more peace of mind. Just don't want to lose my diff!

I assume quoting that number to a bearing supplier willk be sufficient for him/her/it to know the part i'm after :D

6208's will probably do just fine and it what I'll be fitting to my van. SKF explorer bearings are probably the highest quality/spec ones.
