Rover 220 sd idling rough .. Keeps cutting out

I turned up the max fuel screw about 1500 miles ago ... And today driving along pretty quick ; all of a sudden lost all power . Car kept stalling .. Barley drivable .. Not wanting to rev up with out cutting out .. Any ideas what it could be ? Don't want to waste money on something that might not solve the problem .... Any help with be grateful

Check/change the fuel filter (as turning up the fuel screw means more fuel flow is needed). If the pump doens't get enough fuel then it has the symptoms of running out of fuel. This is usually more pronounced when the engine is cold (and the fuel is cold and flows less well).
