2005 Rover 45 Tdi engine light

I have a 2005 Rover 45 Tdi 113bhp bought new. It has been without problems since new and has now done just over 50000 miles. I service it every 5000miles The car has two engine fault lights one a plain car outline the other similar but with a exclamation mark on it. This light has been on for the last 3months The fault code is ( PO251 Fuel pump control Unit: signal out of range, too high) The car runs perfectly starts first time no smoke or smell and is still very economical. I have checked every sensor head and cables, checked the wiring from the ECU to the pump, checked the pump drive belt(It was changed at 40K with the cam belt), the pump is quiet with no oil leaks. Does anyone know what problem area this light actually covers. and has anyone experienced this problem before.
