Pads

Pads

All the manufacturers will tell you that their pads are best and will allow more spirited driving. I’m not going to go into depth here about makers and recommend one over another. The choice is up to you.

In general pad selection is a trade off between the dust, the disc wear, the pad wear, the cold stopping ability and the heat resistance. In general higher the temperature rating the worse the cold stopping ability so you are forced to make a compromise. For track use you’ll want a pad that can survive the heat to give the largest fade resistance. For road use you’ll want something that works from cold so you can stop effectively when that child runs out from behind that parked car.

My simple advice is if you are getting brake fade then move to a pad that can withstand higher temperature or upgrade the brakes to vented/larger ones. If you never get brake fade then don’t worry too much about getting "performance" pads.
