Re: rover 45 dt

On the longest run of belt you should just be able to twist the belt by 45 degrees using finger and thumb usually.

Re: bio diesel

Bio contains different solvents to normal diesel so it can give issues. If it is home brewed bio then it can contain excess ethanol which is used to wash the nasties out of the processed veg oil. This can cause issues in some cases.

Re: Hi from Germany

Hi and welcome. The civic uses the same engine version as the 200/400/600 intercooled versions, i.e. the one with the VP37 pump. Not as easy to tune as the later VP30 pump versions but a LOT more reliable. Without changing any components you can get to around 130bhp.

Re: odd electrics

Yes boot light is worked via the boot lock mechanism. I'd look for wire chafing in the boot hinge area (REALLY common the 200/25/ZR).

Re: rover 45 dt

Assuming the cambelt has been put on right 1. Insert timing pin into crank (6.5mm drill will do I think) 2. Remove all the bits to access the fuel pump belt 3. Check that a drill will fit into the fuel pump pulley and into the hole behind it (9.5mm drill I think). 4. If it all slots in properly then...

Re: Increasing fuel on the pump

Could just be a lack of fuel meaning it can't get to higher rpm to activate the governer.

Re: L Series Variants

Also what has actually died on the engine? They are usually incredibly reliable engines. It might be a simple fix.

Re: L Series Variants

My 1997 Rover 600 diesel has died. I need a new engine and will buy a donor car, are all the intercooled L series engines fitted to the Rover 200, 400 and 600 the same? Yes and no. The basic engine block is the same on all 2/4/600 L series engines, but the ancillaries differ. e.g, aircon non aircon...

Re: hi, newbie here, just saying hello

is it a SD or a SDi? The former don't have a throttle position sensor! The latter is usually a wiring issue near the bottom of the radiator rather than the sensor which is very reliable. If the symptoms are much worse when it is raining than it is probably a wiring fault. Otherwise kangarooing is un...
