Starter motor rebuild tutorial now up

Post by E_T_V »

Just added a tutorial on how to change the contacts in the starter motor solenoid (the cause of most starter motor problems on the L series).

You know when you turn the key and you get a small clunk under the bonnet then nothing else? Worn contacts are usually the reason.

Any errors or additions to it then please let me know

The simple answer is not to take it out as that bit of the motor rarely needs looking at in my experience.

However, I remember vaguely doing it the first time. I seem to recall I had fun doing it too. I might have removed the whole brush unit and then installed it afterwards once the motor shaft was in position, but I'm not 100% on that.
